AI data work for people in low- and middle-income countries

Paid tasks for AI companies: labelling data, rating AI answers, transcribing audio, or writing in your own language. We list it apart from the other jobs because it works differently. Read the box below before you sign up.

How AI data work is different

It’s gig work, not a salaried job. You’re paid per task or per hour worked. How much work there is changes from week to week, and a project can end without notice.

Expect a test first. Most platforms ask you to pass an assessment, and some people who pass still wait weeks before any tasks arrive.

You work as a freelancer. There are no benefits, and you handle your own tax.

Check how you’d be paid. Make sure their payment method (PayPal, Payoneer or bank transfer) works where you live before you spend time on tests.

Real platforms never charge you to join, to take a test or to get tasks.

Where you live decides which roles you can take. Your citizenship highlights roles that need your home-country language or knowledge. Nothing you pick is saved.

How to read the evidence bars

Three bars: country named by employer. The employer names your country in a published list. Strongest. Two bars: job posted for this country. The advert's own location is your country. One bar: employer says it hires worldwide. No country is named, so ask early whether they can pay you where you live. A lighter bar means medium confidence. Limits to citizens, permanent residents or people with the right to work are shown in red. No employer here sponsors visas. Contract and freelance roles carry no benefits — you handle your own tax, insurance and equipment.
